선제적인 프로그램으로 팬데믹 기간에도 환자들이 약 재처방 일정을 놓치지 않도록 지원
아랍에미리트의 Emirates Health Services는 코로나19 팬데믹에 대응하기 위한 혁신적인 프로그램을 개발해 정신과 환자들이 팬데믹 기간에도 치료를 중단하지 않도록 지원했습니다.

코로나19 팬데믹이 닥치자 각국 정부는 봉쇄 조치를 시행했고 사람들은 바이러스 확산을 막기 위해 집에 머물렀습니다. 아랍에미리트의 Emirates Health Services(EHS) 의료진은 환자들을 집에 머물게 하면서도 만성 질환 환자는 약물을 계속 받을 수 있도록 해야 한다는 점을 깨달았습니다.
Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital의 약국 책임자 Ghariba Khamis Al Suwaidi 박사는 “The lockdown was crucial to protect them from potential COVID-19 exposure”라고 말합니다. “We wanted to avoid any discontinuity in care resulting in an avoidable adverse impact on their health. Continued access to chronic medications is normally received at hospitals, and they are evaluated by a pharmacist who issues their next batch. They also receive education regarding their condition and medications.”
환자 안전, 편의성, 만족도를 저해하지 않으면서도 비대면으로 서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 기존의 프로세스를 재설계해야 했습니다. 직원들은 Oracle Health, Cerner ITWorks 팀과 협력해 환자들이 재처방 일정을 놓치지 않도록 지원하는 새 프로그램을 신속하게 구축했습니다. EHS와 Oracle Health는 2020년 3월부터 프로그램 개발을 시작했고, 다음 달에 해당 프로그램을 배포했습니다.
약사는 스크립트 기반의 커스텀 MPage를 사용해 본인의 워크플로 안에서 약 재처방 시점이 된 환자들이 강조 표시된 일일 작업 목록을 확인합니다. 해당 목록을 참고해 환자들에게 재처방이 필요하다는 점을 알립니다. 환자와 상담하고 환자가 재처방에 동의하면, 약사는 Cerner OPENLink를 사용해 처방이 재처리됐음을 확인하는 문자 메시지를 생성합니다.배송 담당자가 약을 환자의 집으로 전달합니다.

또한 해당 프로그램은 약사의 워크플로에 영상 원격 상담을 추가해 환자가 집에서 편안하게 교육을 받고 질문에 대한 답변도 받을 수 있게 만들었습니다.
“This was an excellent service, to deliver to the patient during the pandemic.” 임상 약사 전문가인 Mouza Al Saadi 박사는 말합니다. “We’re not just delivering the medications, we’re educating them. This is important for our hospitals that offer psychiatric services for the patients. We have a telepharmacy program we can use to follow up on side effects of the medication.”
환자들은 이 프로그램에 긍정적으로 반응했습니다. 출시 몇 주 후 실시한 설문조사에서 환자들의 만족도는 90%로 나타났습니다.
“The program can be utilized even after the pandemic is over.” Al Suwaidi는 말합니다.
“We think we can utilize this program mainly for chronic and elderly patients where we need to help support adherence for their medications.”
